I once characterized Erica Rose Campbell, once one of my favorite porn models, as a "pinup designed by a committee." To be crass about it, she has a great ass, great thighs, great calves, a great butt, a great stomach, great breasts, and a pretty face-- all of which were seemingly assembled from parts of other women. In one of those "The leg bone is connected to the hip bone" stories, the musculature, or bone structure, or fat distribution of every single one of those body parts seems to be disproportionate to its neighbor. Her calves were too long for her thighs; her thighs were too heavy for her butt, her butt had too much shelf for her back, her belly seemed just a little bit off for her pelvis, her breasts were too large for her frame, as was her head. The most that can be said was that she started with great breasts and then her personal trainer optimized her diet and exercise to create individual muscle groups that pushed out her ass and thighs, creating just the slightest sense of "offness." Not enough to be uncanny, but enough to twig the sensibilities of the (ahem) connoisseur. Still, I liked her: she had a great smile, for one thing.

On Ms. Campbell's website (Now Safe For Work), we learn that even her brain has been parasitized by unpleasant and distortionary replicating memes.

I know, part of me ought to feel guilty about writing a long paragraph completely and totally objectifying the various body parts of a Good Christian Woman™, but... I can't. She had been in the business for years, scrupulously avoided going hard-core, ran her own website, dealt with other super-savvy non-hardcore pinups like Aria Giovanni (quite possibly Nature's Perfect Woman™; she's like Jessica Alba for adults), and sold herself over and over to the hungry eyes of horndogs like yours truly.

I wish her the best, really. I just wish her solution wasn't so damned extreme.

When she writes about the heartbreak and pain she sees in other girls, I think she's talking about her own heartbreak from living that life, and doing that job. I bet it's pretty painful to spend years and years having men judge her as individual bodyparts like that (I'm not in sexwork but I've found it quite painful to be judged based on my looks by men ocassionally anyway) and, while I don't think Jesus is the One WayOMGBBQ!1, I do hope she finds peace and happiness in her new life through whatever method.

I suspect that young women who get into the business and then later find themselves hurting- start with exactly the same teenage indestructable mindset with which teenage boys join the army, not truly understanding that they have volunteered for a job that may have them end up injured, poisoned, and with PTSD. So I feel sorry for both retired hurting sexworkers and retired hurting soldiers, even if both sets of people did sign up for it.

From everything I know about her, I think she was really always just the sweet "girl-next-door" at heart ... a small-town girl caught-up in the "glamour" world of "adult modeling". She has always struck me as someone who is really a pretty genuine person, and who is caring towards others. Consequently, I never tire of looking at her (as opposed to most of the other adult models or porn stars). I really think that it's her face, eyes, and smile, that make her so interesting ... and that make her unique in comparison to other women with comparable bodies (but who always seem to look basically the same to me).

In conclusion, I will truly miss her .... but she surely deserves a better life than the downward-spiraling treadmill of sex work. I wish her all the best, and I truly hope that she finds the inner peace and happiness, which she is clearly seeking.

I saw Erica's photo's in the issue of playboy when it first appeared and I could not believe her beauty.

I personally knew Erica. I shot her once and we just clicked and became really good friends. I spent two weeks with her in an LA hotel and went to vegas a few times. She was by far the most intelligent girl I ever dealt with in the industry. She knew what she wanted, what she was and wasn't willing to do. She was just a really sweet girl who you would most likely never guess was a well known adult model.

About two years ago, I viewed Erica's Campbell's "Up Close and Personal" videos on Danni.com. I wasn't romantically involved with anyone at the time, and the way she presented herself in those videos deeply charmed me. The erotic content was minimal.
