Diseased.

It's been twelve days since I caught this damn cold. It has definitely progressed to a sinus infection, and I'm tired of it. I called the insurance company provided nurse, who agreed that it needed looking after. I mentioned that I wouldn't have called if Omaha hadn't pressured me to do so. She laughed and said, "That's why husbands live longer."

Dammit, Vernor Vinge is in town this evening. Looks like I'll be staying home, getting bedrest instead.

I dreamed that I saw baseball star Ichiro Suzuki during a practice game hit a line drive past the second baseman and into the outfield. He threw the bat after the ball so hard that it arrived shortly after the ball hit the back fence. He tagged second base, then turned suddenly, grabbed the bat nobody else knew what to do with and, like a golf club, smacked the ball across the field, further confusing everyone. Then he ran to third base and finally home. I woke up.

I had been trying to convince everyone that it was just a dream and it was kinda pointless to discuss whether or not the rules of baseball allowed such a thing. Dreams didn't have to make sense, I argued.

Then I woke up. Again.

Blaise pointed me toward the Arcsin function, which simplified a whole metric ton of math. Haven't puzzled out the easing function yet, but now that I have the d→r function working fine, that's just a matter of aesthetics.

Awesome: Canvas Experiment 11. Now with no quadratic equations.

And Experiment 12. Moving at light speed today.

Canvas Experiment Thirteen

Looks almost like the finished product. The easing algorithm is the one thing left to do: Between one arbitarary position and another, "ease" the upper point to an angle between the point found with arcsin(), and the point found with ordinary radial arithmetic.

Along with the Canvas Experiments, which I spent exactly two hours on today (lunch break and an after-dinner snack), I worked on various work-related things, mostly around software robusticity, mockjax and testing with zombie, and after lunch headed out for the doctor's office.

Where he pronounced my sinuses infested with bacteria, and sent me home with a prescription for Zithromycin and instructions to be even more diligent with the Neti-pot.

Suck.

I have eaten poorly today: lots of wheat, lots of sugar, not enough protein. I blame the bacteria living in my head.

Stormy is at her mother's. Kouryou-chan is developing a serious taste for independence, and is enjoying a new privilege around that independence. Also: she's growing up too damn fast. Both of them are.

A glass of wine is what I need now. That, and rest.
