So, immediately following the deaths of Leni Reifenstahl and Edward Teller, we learn that Johnny Cash and John Ritter died yesterday. John Ritter was especially shocking: he was only 54 and had just finished taping the voiceovers for the latest season of Clifford, The Big Red Dog, for which he provided the voice of the title character. How am I going to explain to Kouryou-chan that Clifford's voice changed next season}}?

Meanwhile, the Center for Science in the Public Interest has come out saying that "alcohol ads aimed at the lucrative 21-30 market cannot help but be appealing to those under-21 years old." Well, duh. But this doesn't explain why the National Academy of Science called for the "retargeting" of those ads so the under-21 crowd won't see them. That's impossible, unless we want to put everyone under the age of 21 into a bubble and deny them any knowledge, any experience at all, of what life is like for the over-21 crowd. This is the stuff of bad science fiction.

I can't be the only on disappointed with Tommy Chong's prison sentence for selling glass over the Internet. We so need to get rid of Ashcroft.

Well, this is not good. Looking through [livejournal.com profile] miraclemax's recent post about readibility, I decided to go to The Source, the programs 'style' and 'diction', and find out about my own journal. Here's what it says for the complete record:

Well, last night [livejournal.com profile] omahas and I were supposed to have a guest over, but she bailed. While unfortunate, it was also probably a good thing because Omaha came down with a 24-huour bug that left her listless and unprepared for guests. So I made comfort food, a risotto heavy with prosciutto, Parmesan cheese, mushrooms (warning: the link is to a rather hypnotic, but work-friendly, earworm, courtesy [livejournal.com profile] kenshardik), and the usual mix of veggies: celery, carrots, onion, shallots, scalions. Yummy.

I also downloaded the Matrix: Revolutions trailer and, I'll agree, "It's nice to have something to look forward to." It does look a bit like the climactic battle is raw anime, but hey, it also looks like amazing eye candy. Watching Smith laugh is, um, creepy.

I also had to tell a dear friend that, sadly, I'm not available for a date anytime soon. It hurt; I really haven't had time to visit with anyone in an intimate way in a while, and I would love to go out on an "adult" date, but sadly, I have to be a parent first. Very frustrating. And she's the one I bought all of these Avanti's for, since she's latex-intolerant. Ah, well; they'll last.

Anyway, I now have enough stories written to get me through December. After that, I need to start assembling something for release.
