I'm not sure what to make of this ad. It's very NSFW, for one thing. Compared to the absolutely delightful French 2007 Campaign with its gorgeous animation and well-chosen music, or the hot Swiss 2006 Campaign which featured incredibly buff hockey players and Olympic fencers doing it in the nude, this current ad is more than a nightmare.

Oh, and let us not forget the Bug Posters from 2004, or the French 2008 Explore campaign.

Chilling. I wonder if the message people take away will be the intended one? It immediately brought to mind for me the people prosecuted for knowingly spreading the virus, rather than what I suspect was intended (that anyone could be that person.)

Some days I'm glad my life is much simpler now.

It did have that feeling, didn't it. And also.... it seems a tiny bit weak to compare AIDS to Hitler. Not that they're not both killers, but resorting to a Hitler comparison is just so easy (my brother and I actually have a standing joke about that; how if you can't prove a point in a given debate, you can always resort to the Hitler Analogy™

Also, doesn't it give the feeling that if you're not out having "hot" sex, i.e. if you're just a "regular" person, you're not in danger?

Interesting.

My thought was it implied the sex had to be so casual you hadn't even looked at the person very well. It had the "out at a bar, pick up a hottie in a haze" feel to it, followed by his face.

Definitely NOT aimed at the "but he's such a nice guy, he couldn't possibly have something so nasty!" crowd, which is really the group that still needs their eyes opened I suspect.

Indeed, the anti-AIDS ad just lost as it invoked Godwin's law.

I was totally waiting for Barry Obama's face at the end, though. Mild disappointment.

Yeah, I don't think that works at all on so many levels.

Ick. Badly done.

The main thing *I* noticed was that it was so dark that I could barely see anything (and this on a monitor that tends to make far too many things "washed out" due to excessive brightness)

If the ad hadn't mentioned Hitler, I'd never have known who the guy was supposed to be. Because the only details of his face that showed were the eyes.
