If you have a dog or cat, be aware that almost half of the pet food currently in the U.S. supply pipeline has been recalled. Go here and check and see if the brand and lot numbers you are currently feeding your cat are subject to the recall. Dinah (pictured at left) eats Nutro Natural Choice, and I was a little freaked out when I read the report. Fortunately, there are also lot numbers associated with the recall and the batch we had was not part of the recall.

Fortunately, the wet food our cat gets is Purina Fancy Feast, which isn't on the recall, and no dry foods were affected. According to a piece on NPR this afternoon, the manufacturer still isn't sure why the food is causing this reaction in pets, but noted that all of the food connected with the problems was produced using wheat gluten from a new supplier.
