Home Alone
Dec. 1st, 2004 02:36 pmWell, last night, after making Turkey Noodle Soup, I drove
omahas to the airport and then went over to a friend's house where
swirlgrrl was having her going-away party. She's moving to the other Washington, D.C., to be inside the beltway and care for a family member.
Kouryou-chan and I got home late enough that I started our usual bedtime ritual, when for reasons I cannot fathom she pulls back and hits me right in the crotch. Once I recovered I asked her why she did that. "Because I wanted to see what you would do." Well, now she knows: straight to bed, no dessert, no books, no music, no nothing. She cried and was miserable, but there wasn't much else I could do at that point.
This morning she was better. A little contrary-- she always is-- but she ate her breakfast of oatmeal (slow-cooked full-cut oatmeal, yum!) and got dressed in her pretty blue jumpsuit with the Cinderella on one side and I got her to school on time.
I've spent the day mostly cleaning. Since I have three days to myself, and about six hours a day without Kouryou-chan about, I'm going to spend it doing the David Allen Getting Things Done ritual, which involves purging an awful lot of stuff from my collection. I have a paper bag to go to Half-Price, and a box to go to Re-PC (which will wait until tomorrow; I need to borrow Kouryou-chan's old computer tonight, burn a Linux rescue disk, and make sure all the old hard-drives that are stacked up in my office are empty), and I've already emptied the recycling bin twice.
I may need to stop by Fry's tomorrow and get more tape for my label-maker.
