Mi Planeta No Es Su Planeta
Nov. 9th, 2004 04:32 pmAlthough it is traditional for the entire cabinet to resign and then go through a re-appointment process at the start of a second term, it looks as if John Ashcroft is throwing in the towel for good. In a five-page handwritten note, Ashcroft told Bush, "The objective of securing the safety of Americans from crime and terror has been achieved."
Uh, yeah. Whatever.

Date: 2004-11-15 09:08 pm (UTC)I'm using two books: Japanese for Busy People, the kana edition (there is no such thing as Romaji, dammit) and Rita Lampkin's Japanese Verbs and Essentials of Grammar (which is in Romaji, dammit).

Best of luck to his successor, who inherits the complete lack of trust Americans have in the Justice Department.

Date: 2004-11-10 09:43 pm (UTC)With Gonzales named succesor, I don't become less worried but even more so.
Gonzales is the man who pushed to keep several energy commision meetings secret. Defended Bush & Cheney's detainment of terrorism suspects indefinetly without counsel or Due Process. Also defended the Bush administrations actions on ignoring the Geneva Convention. Was a principle influence & aid in forming the Patriot Act along with Ashcroft.
Then again unsuprising that Bush would appoint an old cronie of his, and to my view, someone he could control.
