Y'know, the Japanese are sometimes just too cool for their own good. Americans might *think* of something, but it takes someone with nothing to lose to actually try it for commercial gain. For evidence of this, check out I-Doloid, a new magazine (warning, a porn magazine) dedicated to "artificial girl" fetishists and love doll collectors. Some of it is waaay creepy.

Have you seen the miniature versions of those? Some "sex dolls" are made just for posing for pictures.

At any rate, the US has commercial ventures like this as well. One example would be Real Doll Pics (http://www.realdollpics.com/) (a porn site featuring sex dolls). I've looked at quite a bit of it.

I think it's the fact that someone in Japan believes there's enough of a market that a glossy magazine can survive blows my mind. Are there really that many erotica android fetishists in the world?

Ewwwww! and Awwwww!

They have that horrid RealDoll creepy factor, but most of the pictures were of pretty little asian chicks...er, dolls...and far cuter than any of the poor, overblown fake
hussies on RealDoll. I would honestly _like_ one, to use as a posable art model that doesn't get tired, but I think having one in the house would be just too creepy, even if I did want to pay for one.

What I find really amazing, though, is that there is such a _market_ for the things that a magazine devoted to them, even in Japan, thinks it can keep enough subscribers to survive! That's _got_ to say something about today's culture, but I haven't figured out what.

My roommate is a cute little Korean girl (looks Japanese, not Korean.) From the way she describes sex, she's almost as passive as one of those dolls. No wonder she says she doesn't like it. I sometimes wonder if that is why men find her so fascinating, well other than the petite asian thing.

These dolls to me are just bigger better masturbatory toys, it's not sex with a partner it's just not. I know submissive women who get into being treated like f*&k dolls, but I wonder if they really would. There are drugs they could take which would incapacitate them, while allowing them to feel. I don't hear about people using those, and I hear a lot of wierd stuff.
