I awoke Saturday morning to the sensation of deep and unabiding terror, for today was Kouryou-chan's fifth birthday and, in this day, she would be inviting thirteen of her favorite friends over for three hours of screaming, singing, getting wired on sugar, and the opening of presents.

That's how it's starts, but later there's all this running and screaming. )

Well, after the children were put to bed, FallenPegasus and Omaha and I all went downstairs and watched Drawn Together. This is reality television for animated characters. We have a comic book superhero, a 20's-era sex symbol in black and white, a Pokemon, a scatological Krikfalusi character, a gay elfin video game character, an annoying flash animation, and a sexy 60's Black crime-fighting musician with ears and a tail. Just go to the link and check out the details.

This show is sick, sick, sick. You must be exhausted or drunk to enjoy this show. But when you are, it's freakingly hilarious. It's so wrong it's, well, dangerously right. I can't get the "Laby-laby-labia" song out of my head. Listening to Droopy Dawg doing an erotic audiobook reading had me rolling on the floor. And I think this show went for the gusto in finding every poosible synonym for anus. It explained Elmer Fudd and Snagglepuss once and for all.

Well, Sunday was quieter. FallenPegasus crashed on the couch the night before because he had been too tired to drive home, so he stayed for breakfast. I wasn't feeling too good; the kids had been so overstimulated and wired last night that both of them woke up in the middle of the night and crawled into bed. It's really hard to explain to a child that I'm very territorial about my bedspace. I had to carry Yamaarashi-chan back to her bed twice.

For breakfast, Omaha made blintzes with cottage cheese, honey, ginger and cinnamon, and they were delicious. Afterwards, we set about cleaning the house and playing Monopoly Junior. It was kinda a blur. After lunch I had to work for a couple of hours, getting caught up on documentation issues. It was a quiet afternoon, and I think I prefer my Sundays quiet. But we did manage to get a couple of games of a silly thing called Ker-Plunk in. Something about marbles and sticks, and the person with the least marbles at the end was the winner.

I took Yamaarashi-chan back to her mother's house, and then we made pizza. It was time to sit and watch The Wizard of Oz. Kouryou-chan was really scared, but she sat and watched it anyway.
