So, last night, as I'm driving Yamaarashi-chan home to her mother's house, the cat sneaks into mine and Omaha's bed and pees in it. We've had her checked; the doctor insisted there isn't much we can do for her right now and that it's probably behavioral. About the only thing I can think of is that the kids made such a cacophany last night that she did this as a form of revenge.

She managed to spray the comforter, the blanket, and my cozy. I spent all of last night tossing and turning because I was so damned cold and uncomfortable, and today I'm just a zombie. I even tried putting on sweats and sleeping with that, but it barely helped.

All I want out of life right now is eight uninterrupted hours of sleep... The kids get it. Heck, the kids willfully enjoy it. I should be able to get it too.

A cat breeder friend of mine recommends that once physical causes are ruled out, litter-training can be reinforced by placing the cat in a small space. Ideally there's just enough for food, litter, and a bed (folded towel, say). Since cats don't like to pee in the food or water, or in their bed...

Bathrooms can work well for this, if a bit of a pain.

She's an old cat. Old cats get cantankerous, and do this. This is why I shut the door to the bedrooms at Paradux Hill and won't let cats in there. (I trust the dogs. Not the cats.)

It is usually behavioral rather than anything else with these oldsters. They get annoyed at something, and they pee where you least want them to.

I'd try Jen's suggestion with Shadow, but I know why she goes in the corner rather than the litter box: she's upset that she has to share HER house with Jasmine and Trouble. When left in a room by herself with the door shut, she's usually just fine.

I forgot that Dinah's getting up there. Might want to get additional litterboxes in that case - cranky oldsters don't like walking if they don't *want* to ;)

(Though I agree she was probably pissed off...)

Something to recommend is to treat your bedclothes with Nature's Miracle. It will remove the catpiss smell, and discourage her from peeing in them again. Buy a gallon of NM, tightly pack them bedclothes in a bucket and pour half it it and let it soak for an hour. Then wash without soap, and pour the other half of the gallon into the rinse cycle, then gentle tumble dry the bedclothes. (The stuff works best when it's allowed to dry into things.)

It sounds like Dinah is having stress and age.

Or it's just a cat that doesn't sleep enough ^_^
