So we made more bread. Yes, and this time we didn't use the damned bread machine, but did it by hand. Kouryou-chan is a little too young to do anything more than help stir the dry ingredients, but I got Yamaarashi-chan to help knead it. I figured it would be fun for her to get messy and mix and bang and punch on the dough, and it was fun for a while. Problem was, we were making a light French yeast dough (one-quarter wheat) and it starts out really sticky and gooey, and when she suddenly realized that she couldn't get some of it off her fingers she immediately started to freak out a little. But I got her into the bathroom and she washed her hands and things were okay after that, but she didn't want to help anymore. Oh, well.
It came out much better this time. We even did the raising in an elongated canvas sack, the way French bread is supposed to be raised. About the only problem I had was I lacked a proper steamer for the oven so the crust was a little tougher than I would have liked to be, but inside it was moist and wonderful and the kids slathered on a little olive oil and we all head a great time.
I'm rather pleased to see the number of people who have come out and introduced themselves since I joined LJ. I was once a "visible feature of Usenet," I suppose, so it's nice that there are so many sweet people who remember.
And someone emailed me: "What the f#%@ is up with all that pink?" Well, I'm not gonna explain it. Nope, no sir. Suffice it to say that pink is one of my favorite colors for all the usual reasons, some of which mark me as an adult and some of which, well, let's just say I have Piro's syndrome: I alway play the girl character if I have the option. Admittedly, I like first person shooters, but I still play the woman marine if I can. It'll only get worse as I start hacking in my favorite fonts and logos.
I've been writing a lot recently. Two, possibly three thousand words a day, of story, and I'm really enjoying it. Yes, you'll all get to see them eventually. There are two more Misuko and Linia episodes coming, for one thing, and Dreamteam Calamities is almost finished. I just have to get the Katrina episode and the orgy scene done.

Me finding out you are on LJ:

OK, all done embarrassing myself with the fannishness.
Nice to meet you. I'm Sarah.

Date: 2003-02-11 03:14 pm (UTC)But it turned out that I ended up meeting a few people who knew you, as well, and I just wanted to wave in, let you know I was reading your LJ, and sing "It's a Small World" at you for a few bars. (I may have been hearing about you for years, but it's only been in the last few months where I started finding out how many of my good friends knew you. Catsy's one of them.)
Hi.
Hi!

Date: 2003-02-12 06:05 am (UTC)And anyone who knows who The Winslow is can't be bad in my book! (I still have an amazing fondness for bound hardcopy.)
Remember you? Hell yeah.
Date: 2003-02-13 11:41 am (UTC)Over a decade ago, I ran a BBS. One of my co-sysops was a huge fan of yours, and would upload your offerings into our text files section religiously. When I first ventured out onto the internet a couple of years after that, I would read your writings on a regular basis.
Thanks for all of the wonderful stories over the years, and welcome to LiveJournal.
