I would be totally remiss in my duties if I didn’t remind you that I had some Tron fanfic of my own, now wouldn’t I? Data Flow is M/M, and a warning for non-consensual sex.

Meanwhile, enjoy staring at the totally hot chick. If that’s Mercury, damn, that’s a lot of nice polygons.

The hell with Avatar. That's what I'd want to get plugged into. =};-3 (The fanfic is going to flow like water when the movie hits.)

As much as I like the idea of a sequel, the visual look of the movie rubs me the wrong way: it looks too normal, not abstract enough.

Oh well, it's the times. (and get off my lawn!)

Yeah, that was my exact reaction, too. The first movie had to be abstract, since that was all they could manage, but they embraced it and made a visually interesting movie out of it. It's disappointing that they've abandoned it now that they can do "better."

At first glance, I thought you were posting some still frame from a new Lady GaGa video.

If that's what Tron has become, visually, then it's bound to be a huge, overhyped, disappointment.

Luckily, I have very low expectations for this sequel/redux/whatever ass-raping they're doing of the Tron franchise and my childhood memories.

TRON was great, glorious cheese! This looks... hrm, a bit too Matrixy -- sleek, brooding, and coffee-shop philosophical... not that I find anything wrong with that (I still enjoy watching The Matrix now and then) but only in occasional doses; it's a bit jarring when seen in the context of TRON.

I guess the computer animation geek in me is still trying to figure out if she's made from NURBS or subdivision surfaces. That's a lot of polys; the Wired World must have had a heck of an upgrade!

Then again, comparing, say, the original TRON to Mass Effect 2....

True, it's as obvious as a kick in the pants that the visual style has been upgraded in line with modern capabilities. Still it looks to me like a homage to the original - a derivative.

I think that some of the notions in the original turned out to be a bit corny when compared with the way technology has actually developed, but focusing too hard on that carries a risk of missing the point of what made Tron great.

I'm really excited about the prospect of seeing this movie at Imax.
