The Tea Party’s war on cities
The Tea Party contingency in Congress has declared war on mass transit and seeks to gut the mass transit allowance of the annual national transportation bill, allocating all of it to highway and roadway construction. They don't even provide a decent fiscal reason for doing so. Outside of Congress, their object is clearly stated: cities are racially mixed and sources of cultural "alternatives." Defunding mass transit throws sand in the gears of the engines of their discontent.
Our illness is their profit
PZ Myers makes a point that I've been making for years: we are not, in fact, all born equal-- and so the "equality of opportunity" meme is a thorough and invidious lie that automatically further disadvantages those already at a disadvantage.
Romney, Santorum and Gingrich promise to ban pornography
In case you were wondering what the small government Republicans want to do, they want to monitor your laptops, desktops and smart phones for inappropriate thoughts.
Tim Gunn Hasn’t Had Sex In 29 Years, And It’s None Of Our Fucking Business
Fashion Guru Tim Gunn admits to having been celibate for much of his adult life.
Rick Santorum Wants Your Sex Life to Be 'Special'
Shorter Rick Santorum: "Sex is so pleasurable that a married woman of childbearing age should be allowed to experience it five to ten times."
Andrew Brietbart Completely Loses His Shit During Occupy Protest at CPAC
At first glance, in this video right-wing pundit Andrew Breitbart seems to get completely weird and starts shouting "rapists" at the Occupy Movement people who protested at the Conservative Political Action Conference.

But Breitbart was being "edgy", not drunk. He was hoping to create buzz for an article on his primary website that claimed that Occupy occupations were hotbed of sexual crime. Breitbart's list, however, has repetitions, mis-representations, and outright deceptions, and at best, he has one documented case of sexual assault at an Occupy event.
A Legal Theory for Autonomous Artificial Agents
This is so me, isn't it? But geez, $85!
Mitt Romeny. It's important, especially if you're a dog.

Elf, how did you happen to come across a reference that book on "A Legal Theory of Autonomous Artificial Agents"? Was it a particular blog or site or even mailing list?

My RSS reader includes Sentient Developments (http://www.sentientdevelopments.com/), which is still the best site to monitor for transhumanist thought today, despite George's socialist leanings.

Thanks... adding it to my feeds.

Can you recommend any other AI / robotics / transhumanist feeds?

I sometimes follow the links in George's blogroll, but otherwise, not really.

I found out about it from the Concurring Opinions blog, which last week had an online symposium on the topics of the book.

Perhaps Mr. Santorum would like to explain in person to women whose bodies can't carry a fetus to term that their options are celibacy, to have miscarriage after miscarriage, or accept that their sex can never be 'special.' Then he can go get his balls surgically extracted from his intestines. If he's still feeling frisky, he can follow up by explaining it to their husbands.

Not that there aren't other vilenesses associated with this round of drivel, but this is one that jumps to mind due to situations that friends have been in.

Ahhhahahahaha.

I wish them luck in that. Because the Internet was exactly the sort of thing that totally exploded Canada's pornography censorship laws. There was just no way they could control it anymore after about 1996.
