Jul. 31st, 2008 02:56 pmBarack Obama today in Cedar Rapids, Iowa:
We want to have a serious debate. But so far, we've been hearing about Paris Hilton and Britney Spears. I do have to ask my opponent: is that the best you can come up with? Is that really what the election is about? Is that worthy of the American people? Even the media has pointed out that McCain has fallen back into ... predictable political attacks and demonstratively false statements... Spending all this time talking about me instead of talking about what he's going to do. That's not going to lower your gas prices. That's's not going...to help you find a job if it's been shipped overseas. It doesn't do a single thing to help the American people. It's the politics of the game. But the time for game-playing is over. That's why I'm running for President.

Date: 2008-08-01 12:21 am (UTC)As I said, there are very few men with the intellectual acumen to run for president these days. Huckabee, Clinton, Gore, and Obama are in that category.

Date: 2008-08-01 07:14 pm (UTC)Don't believe me? The only good thing Jimmy carter ever did was open up drilling during the OPEC crisis which in less than a week dropped the price of oil in HALF!
What's Obama's solution? Keep the pressure in your tires in check.
?...?
Seriously. That was his direct answer to the direct question of how to decrease America's dependence on oil.
He whines about people talking about his inexperience, plays the Race-card at every opportunity, and talks about idealistic concepts without *any* realistic method of bringing them to fruition.
Can you cite 1 single day out of his 143 total days he's appeared in the Senate Room where he actually did anything important?
He's a rookie, inexperienced, the MOST liberal of the liberals, and definitely NOT qualified to be the president of the United States.
Current theory is that Hillary needed someone running against her to make her look more conservative in comparison... she just didn't count on him being so charismatic and actually winning the party ticket.

What's Obama's solution? Keep the pressure in your tires in check.
Oh, and putting $150 billion into alternative fuel research. And closing the Enron Loophole (which McCain put in). And cutting industry tax breaks. And requiring the use of EXISTING leases instead of opening up more land. He's even willing to listen to T. Boone Pickens' ideas. Next question?

Okay, now you're just playing Sean Hannity here. If the lies and BS you're spouting haven't choked you off by now, you have a bigger mouth than even I realized. Evidence. Bring out the evidence of what you say instead of baseless supposition and maybe you'll get somewhere. But I doubt it.
It's McCain who's spouting idealism, McCain who's trying to live on the past eight years, and brother how THOSE have done well for the country. And it's McCain who's playing the race card like it's a Black Orchid in the middle of a MTG tournament. And when he's not doing that, he's calling people who negotiate instead of whip out the military appeasers. (Gee, now that Bush is negotiating with Iran, I wonder how that looks? WHOOPS!)

Whose theory is this, Ann Coulter's? Bill O'Riley's? Rush Limbaugh's?

Just to emphasize, compared with the neocons whose butts you've been sniffing all your life, he's liberal. Compared to them, GOLDWATER is a liberal.
McCain, for all his experience, still can't tell a) the difference between a Sunni and a Shiite, b) that Czechoslovakia hasn't existed in 15 years, and c) the basic timeline of the Iraqi War.. Despite the fact that he claims massive foreign policy experience.
Experience is great, but when it's the WRONG experience, I'll take new, fresh ideas over experience any day.

Date: 2008-08-01 09:58 pm (UTC)Speculation didn't exist in the carter administration. Right. Do you really believe that, or are you talking without thinking?
I also DENOUNCE that speculators are to blame at all... Speculators are simply following market economics that have existed since the beginning of intelligent life on this planet! It's simple Supply and Demand as related to the cost of ANY futures commodity. Less supply with greater demand equals higher prices. Increasing the supply lowers the prices. When pricing futures, simply increasing a "pending" supply lowers prices. Your INGORANCE of simple economics means that the liberal spin doctors butts that YOU've been sniffing have gotten to you.
Re: Energy problems
There's nothing to say that we can't still spend money on alternative fuel sources, lessening our demand on oil over the long term... and STILL increase our supply of domestic oil at the same time. That would be a Win-win situation. The difference is that we have the ability to increase our domestic supply which will bring the prices down TODAY... whereas decreasing our dependence won't drop the price as long as China's dependence is increasing.
RE: misstatements by candidates
Since you're bringing up gaffs stated by McCain, how about the 57 states Obama had visited so far? How about Obama stating that Jerusalum is the capitol of Israel? Everyone makes gaffs when they're tired... They're worth a laugh, but not worth considering for what the candidate really believes.
re: Liberalism
Barack Obama is THE MOST liberal senator of 2007, ranked #10 in 2006 and #16 in 2005.

Date: 2008-08-02 01:37 am (UTC)Lincoln freed the slaves. Was he a liberal or a conservative?
Union lobbyists are the reason behind the 40-hour work week... and now they are just corrupt gangsters.
Support for "women and children who desperately need it" used to be provided by the head of the house... but that was back when only one adult member of the house *had* to work. Now, thanks to liberal programs that tax us to death, *everyone* in the house needs to work because no one can ever earn enough to suport others... and that snowballs down into *needing* to support women and children who can't make a living for themselves. Yeah.. liberals did that.
The only time Capitalism has failed is when it was taxed to death. Capitalism works, and is the most stable, self-correcting system in history.
yeah.. liberal is a dirty word.
