It has been a very busy two days. The weather was absolutely, scorchingly beautiful Friday through Sunday, so much so that many people joked that they took Friday off, a day they felt "too good to go to work." I believe it. It took this freaking long for the weather to clear up; for months now we've been joking, fearfully, that this would be another year of no summer. We had one of those a few year ago. The Grey Lid didn't lift until early June, and it came back in late July. Let's hope this once gives us more days of clear, gorgeous weather like this.

Cleaning the garage
Omaha already reported on the horrors in the garage. It's clean now, and everything in it has been cleared out and is right now being cleaned with an eye toward putting them up on Craigslist. What doesn't move in a week will go to Freecycle, then eventually the dump. Right now we've got a child's outdoor rocker, a portable high chair with tray suitable for small children and restaurants, an older indoor high-chair with a bigger traditional tray, and Kouryou-chan's old crib. Also my old, small desk with detached hutch, and a ten-by-ten hunch of rug from when Omaha and I replaced the dining room floor with wood.

While Omaha cleaned all of the baby stuff we need to get rid of, I mowed the lawn and pressure-watched the back porch. That was actually a pretty good use of my time. The back porch had moss grow on it over the winter sufficient to make it dangerous, slippery walking when wet. Well, that's no longer a problem.

Not very foody recently, although I did try a few interesting beers over the past couple of days. Last night, Omaha decided to try Wandering Aengus Apple Cider, which turned out to be too dry for her taste but I liked a lot. I had Buffalo Bill's Orange Blossom Cream Ale, which was sweeter, and a touch heavier. Omaha and I traded glasses. Today I tried the New Belgium (pretty damn fine brewer!) Springboard Ale, which was light and refreshing, the kind of thing you'd want when it was as hot as this morning.

Kouryou-chan had a birthday party at the Bouncy Gym Saturday afternoon, and other than that I've been mostly a stay-at-home this weekend. Missed both the Cheese Festival and the U District Street Fair, sad to say.

...I mowed the lawn and pressure-watched the back porch.

You pressure-watched, huh? That must have been pretty intense watching, hon. Did you learn that on some reality tv show? Hope you stocked up on eye drops...pressure-watching can really drain your eyes after a while.
