Every time I pass by one of those Prince Caspian posters, my principle reaction is "Put down that damn sword and kiss me." The actor is very pretty. It must be "Mayday syndrome," as one of my boyfriends used to put it: every year around this time my interest in guys seems to get much stronger than any other time of the year. It usually fades by mid-June.

On the other hand, I could still watch Mariah Carey wiggle all day long.

Not that there's anything wrong with that...

Have you googled for open source boobies (http://www.google.com/search?q=%22open+source+boobies%22) recently? A minor meme that has the convention-going fairer sex absolutely up in arms, and is guaranteed to make getting laid at a 'con much, much harder.

Oh, rest assured, that was *exactly* the bit of recent internet arcana I was referencing. Although FWIW, I think by and large the women in question have a point, no matter how well-intentioned the initial effort may have been...

as Laughable as the Open Source Boobies idea was, once it got taken outside a small, close circle of friends... At least it's started a dialogue. Sure, most of the people involved are shouting, but some good and reasonable points do tend to come out of such things.

There are a lot of folks in many different fandoms who would benefit from some public discussion about just why the hell we have these silly social conventions anyhow.

Hell, even if the only take-home message is "Talk to the person first, have a better chance of meeting her breasts later" then it's worth all the fuss.

Also, i seem to have "first of may" rattling about in my head now.
