- Where's your multi-culti now?
"My father beat me and told me that I must marry this man, and if I did not, I would be raped and no law and no sheikh in this country would help me. I refused but I couldn't stop the marriage," Nojoud Nasser told the Yemen Times. "I asked and begged my mother, father, and aunt to help me to get divorced. They answered, 'We can do nothing. If you want you can go to court by yourself.'"
You'd better hope this is a hoax. Najoud Nasser is eight years old.- Milton Friedman: Against Great Nation Conservatism Even Before It Existed
- Another article that analyzes McCain's sneering "You and your lattes and your Volvos and your thirty dollar haircuts. You've got it easy" attitude that irks so many people who believe in an America where the first right is to be left alone. Gene Healy nails it just right in this article. He reminds me of Will Wilkinson's brilliant analysis of McCain's appeal:
All you care about is superficial shit like not starving, living a long time, and being creative and happy. Blah blah blah. But, really, what's the point of living to 200 if all you do is enjoy yourself the whole time? I mean, don't you want to know what it is like to kill a man? DON'T YOU WANT TO TASTE BLOOD!? Besides, virtue.
Vote John McCain. - Max Boot's Moral Compass
- Justin Logan tells us about Boot's latest, and writes, "Since Boot has called the deranged Gen. Curtis LeMay 'one of the greatest peacemakers in modern history, a proper candidate for a Nobel Peace Prize' and gushed over how maybe the Philippines (200,000 civilians killed! torture!) could be a model for how to win in Iraq, I for one will pass on taking my moral cues from Boot, thanks." Good man.
- Memo to the New York Times: John McCain Is a Neocon
- More from Justin Logan: The Times Death Spiral Watch goes on high alert as, somehow, its reporters parrot what McCain's men tell him, rather than, you know, asking questions of other observers and separating the truth from the, er, "spin."
- John Adams on Jesus' Divinity
- The late "Dr." D. James Kennedy once said that The DaVinci Code, for all its other faults, was "pernicious" because it claimed that Jesus never said he was divine, the Nicene Council did that in 325AD. But John Adams believed it too, but so did Jefferson and Franklin, and it's likely that Washington and Madison would not have disagreed.
- Blame the atheists for Fred Phelps!
- Performing a perfect double No True Scotsman with a twist, the editorial board of the Redding, CA newspaper The Record, states that Fred Phelps (he of GodHatesFags and so forth) can't possibly be a man of faith, and so he must the product of an Evil Atheist Conspiracy.

Date: 2008-04-16 03:57 pm (UTC)They can't be real Christians. They must be part of an atheist cabal.
Their goal? To undermine churches. To give religion a black eye. To plant in the minds of the young a twisted and evil view of Christianity.
How else to explain the perverse tactics of the Kansas-based Westboro Baptist Church, whose members travel the country to picket soldiers' funerals with a message of hate?
PULEEZE! They are true blue Fundies; just total idiots as it appears the Redding editorial board also is if they think this has anything to do with atheism!
