Damn. Chronic mad digitizer syndrome settles in..

Just a couple of days ago, I mentioned to Omaha that as much as loved my Palm m500, I truly did lust after her beautiful new E2. Well, it looks like I might have my wish after all, not that I really want to replace what has been the workhorse of my day-to-day existence. My Palm has developed Mad Digitizer Syndrome, and the drift is so bad that even a few minutes after a full reset I can't get it back on track. I'll try one of those auto-digi drivers this evening, but if that doesn't work, looks like I'm gonna be in the market for a new PDA after all.

Sigh. I really, really did not want this.

Don't like the T|X? If I were still buying PDAs (instead of smartphones), that's what I'd be using.

BTW, completely unrelated, I recall you recently lamenting the reformulation of NyQuil to drop pseudoephedrine. I discovered there is now 'NyQuil D' - which is basically 'NyQuil Classic', with the pseudoephedrine. Of course, you have to show ID, etc, to buy it now.

I love my T|X - I went from a Handspring Visor Platinum to the T|X a few years ago, and I'm amazed at it. It plays MP3s and video, it has a relatively good WiFi (but no WPA/WPA2 support built-in - you need a separate app for that), it has great IR and Bluetooth keyboard support, and the charge lasts just about forever! It interfaces with Office well (which my entire school uses otherwise I wouldn't touch it) and I can color-code the calendar (office hours are blue, classes are red, meetings are yellow and personal is gray)!

When my wife bought it for me, I was honked that she had spent $300; but man - I use it EVERY day (she's the greatest)!

Fixing the Mad Digitiser

My Vx caught this when it got sat on. It was caused by the metal casing being bent down onto the edge of the screen, generating spurious input and making calibration impossible. Since I'd done a battery swap already, it was easy to split the shell and straighten it out.

There's nothing visually bent about it. I've cleaned out the periphery of the frame with a dental brush and compressed air, but that didn't improve performance. I've installed DigiFix, which restores it well enough that I can do anything that doesn't really require the main screen for heavy lifting. I can still select items, but I have to double check to make sure I got the right one.
