elfs | Saturday: A long day with other people's stuff

Saturday, we awoke early because I had promised

lisakit that I would help her run a load of her stuff from her old house way out in Woodinville down to her new house here in Burien, a round trip of about 30 miles. I ended up making the trip twice; once for the light stuff, and once for the truck. Met a lot of interesting people who there to help as well, including the legendary "Deb."

wolfieboy was there, as was his gorgeous new squeeze

klicrai. Omaha and Kouryou-chan helped with the first run, but I left them at home for the second, which gave me a chance to listen to my Japanese lessons and some of Carnegie's How to Win Friend and Influence People.

We moved bookshelves and cats, books and clothes and goddess only knows what else. Lisa was definitely stressed by the end of the day, but moving is always stressful, and there seemed to be some hard feelings between Lisa and at least one of the roommates she was leaving behind.

They've got themselves a lovely little house nestled in the nook between the airport and the interstate, but it's actually sheltered from both by the terrain and I think she'll be fine. The cottage is actually very cute; it feels more like a large apartment with a roof overhead than a full-sized house. Who are all these nifty people Deb and Lisa know, anyway?

When we were done, we sat on the floor of their new house and ate pizza and watched the landlord change the bolts and locks. I gave Lisa a footrub; she seemed to need it. And eventually Omaha, Kouryou-chan and I made our way home, to go to bed at a sadly sensible hour.
