Terry Pratchett has been diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer's. He says that he's going to fight and he has a few more books left inside him. I hope he's right.

I nearly cried. If I could nominate any one person in this world to healthy immortality, he'd be my first, second and third choices.

I heard about this last night and I'm still trying to come to grips with it. I just wish I could face such things with the spirit he has.

At least he will get to see the TV version of his first Discworld novel, the Colour of Magic made. I just hope it captures the spirit better than that Hogfather thing. Nothing hugely bad about Hogfather, but it was just too much drama and not enough of the Discworld humour. They barely showed the Death of Rats and the raven after all.

This diagnosis is a real tragedy though. It made the BBC breakfast news, but for some reason not the BBC's "UK edition" RSS feed. That bugs me.
