What's the point of paying the extra $20 for "second day delivery" when the freakin' Ebay retailer doesn't put the package in the UPS chain for four days?

I'm tired of working on a computer where I have to shut down the word processor to pull up the mail browser, and have to shut down both to pull up the web browser, and so on and so forth.

Didn't Bill Gates once say that 128MB was more than any consumer would ever need? 128MB isn't enough for this consumer right now.

I believe it was 640k, and that was at the dawn of the IBM PC.

Bill Gates said 640K would be more RAM than anyone would ever need, in response to a DOS architecture problem with addressing memory beyond address a000:0000

I have an open Paypal dispute right now because a seller charged $15.00 for priority shipping. I paid on November 18. She shipped on December 3. She says she should get *more* money for shipping, because she was horribly inconvienced by having to reship it twice because she didn't understand postal regulations about package sizes and the automated shipping stations. All of this for something that would have fit in one of the flat rate $8.95 boxes.

Bill didn't make any such statement, either 128Mb, 640kb or 64kb (the actual maximum segment size in DOS which is more pertinent). The quote is an urban legend. (http://www.faktoider.nu/640kb_eng.html)

Dude, use Mutt (http://mutt.org/). Unless you absolutely need to view HTML-bloated emails in their font-changing glory, you don't need Thunderbird.

Indeed, either use mutt+vi, or emacs w/ rmail or something.

And, of course, use screen.
