Mine, Kouryou-chan's, Yamaraashi-chan's
So, this is what the pumpkins looked like after all the effort. Mine was a lot of work, but it really turned out well. Kouryou-chan was devastated when she broke the tail off hers, but I think it looks just fine. And Yamaraashi-chan's really is as spooky as she'd hoped.

Awesome!

That's one thing that Australia misses out on: a proper celebration of Halloween.

i didn't even notice the tail...my cats sit like that all the time with their tail curled below them, you wouldn't even see that they had a tail if they were in shadow.

Those are fabulous. Especially Yamaraashi-chan's.
I'm carving pumpkins this evening and looking forward to it. It's the first time in years I've prioritized doing it.

Thanks! I had to press Yamaraashi-chan to finish the cleanup on hers. She was going to leave it with lots of fiber hanging around, but I showed her how I was cleaning the eyes around mine to let more light through and she got it. Kouryou-chan's was pretty much good from her ending.

It was also some interesting photography work. I set the Gorillapod on a chair in the kitchen and shot through the archway into the dining room; it was one of the better (and darker) spots in the house. Since I used a tea candle and a four-second exposure, I had to set the camera for "three photos, ten seconds apart, after an initial ten second delay," and then walk away. That gave the camera time to restabilize after each frame. It worked very nicely.

I'll have to show these to my wife. They might just inspire her to turn on her creativity for our pumpkins. :)

You should! Large pumpkins are a great carving medium (the big ones aren't better for much else!) and they're super-cheap after Halloween. Nothing wrong with buying four for $20 and practicing.
