It almost made me gag!
Sep. 1st, 2007 09:40 pmIt was an ordinary Saturday, full of the usual livelithings. I didn't get any writing today. I'm trying to train Muse to work in places other than the bus, but she's resisting. I might try moving out of doors tomorrow, since she likes writing outdoors. We did monthly grocery shopping, took care of the cat.
One thing we did manage today was to tend the garden. We didn't tend it much while we were gone, and this past week was insane. Today, we cleaned up the broccoli flowers, picked all the ripened tomatoes, and watered the bed thoroughly. One thing I also did was deflower the basil and oregano. When I was done I had huge bundles of the flowers, and snapping them released this scent, powerful and meaty, so strong it was overwhelming and almost gagging.
Yamaraashi-chan is at her mother's house this weekend. Kouryou-chan had the neighborhood kids to keep her occupied. There was a whole panorama of My Little Ponies everywhere in the yard this afternoon. And Kouryou-chan stole an apple off the tree. Omaha and I played two rounds of Quake; in the first, I won; in the second, she did. I also played two rounds of Sorry! with Kouryou-chan, and won both. I didn't mean to; it just kinda worked out that way.
Dinah is eating the correct amount finally, about six ounces a day. Omaha and I joked that she's gonna get fat, but this is barely the correct amount of food for her weight. Still, she does seem to be eating every opportunity she gets.
Omaha made a delicious chicken and sweet potato... thing. It was done entirely in the microwave. I was skeptical but it came out wonderful.
I bought a Utilikilt belt to go with the kilt, and the damn this is heavy. Between the belt and the mass of fabric that makes up the kilt, it's a lot to wear. While I was in the store, I commented to the salesdude that the inventory looked a little low. "It's the busy season," he said. "Between Bumbershoot and Burning Man, y'know..." He shrugged. There was also a very lovely woman there buying her own: it's nice to see skirts coming back into fashion.
