Sunday: Camp, Bowling, Paperwork
Aug. 13th, 2007 11:26 amSunday was a slow day. We took S. to the camp drop-off, where we also found Yamaraashi-chan with her mother. Yamaraashi-chan had already congregated with two other girls from her cabin and was chattering away amiably. Kouryou-chan was thrilled to see her again, but upset that she would have to go another week without her sister. Yamaraashi-chan's mother was not merely civil, but helpful.
After that, Omaha and I took Kouryou-chan bowling to help her feel better. We all bowled terribly; I barely reached the low 90's, and they didn't do any better. Kouryou-chan did get her first taste of cheesecake and decided, contrary to her initial assesment upon hearing the term, that there were times when "cheese" and "cake" belonged in the same word.
The bowling alley has an arcade, and Omaha and Kouryou-chan played air hockey until Kouryou-chan's fingers got in the way of the puck. Ouch! Poor kid. In one of many ongoing signs of how old I feel, I learned that the latest incarnations of Dance Dance Revolution now come with a USB slot for a flash object on which the player can keep track of her progress. There was also a combination DDR/Whack-a-mole game in the back that stated "This game is for sale and use only in Japan." Funny, that's not where we were.
Omaha and I went home and plowed through a ton of paperwork for the usual legal struggles. This was not how I wanted to spend my adult Sundays, but life doesn't always let you do what you want.
Dinner was comfort food: tomato soup and grilled cheese sandwiches.
I fed and watered the cat. I have to get over my squick of needles. The cat is under CRF subcutaenous water therapy, but she's still not eating more than two or three ounces a day, if that. I tihnk part of her problem might be that her teeth hurt, but the veterinarian isn't sure that he can do a dental prophaylaxis with her under CRF.
Omaha and I played a round of Quake before heading to bed ourselves. I haven't been sleeping well recently, maybe I'll be better tonight.
