There are movie trailers that cause me to want to see the flick. The Transformers is a good example, as is Live Free or Die Hard. I would like to see those films.

I need to go see Sunshine.

It looks like someone has finally made the first truly smart horror-in-space movie since 1979. Even the trailer shows us that the style, the effects, and the script are solid. Four minutes of amazement.

It probably doesn't hurt that they used a great remix of Curt Mansell's "Requiem for a Dream" as the trailer.

I think you mean Clint Mansell. AFAIK, he has never used the name Curt.

Sadly, he's not doing the soundtrack for the film. John Murphy (Locky, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels; 28 Days Later) is doing the soundtrack, along with Underworld. So, I still expect it to have a good soundtrack, but he's no Mansell.

I've gotta agree with [livejournal.com profile] solarbird. Reignite the sun? Come on.. the science behind that one is murky at best. At least they didn't go with "the sun is dying because it's old, and we're going to turn it back on with a bomb". Brian Cox, their primary science adviser, was able to convince them not to go down that route.

From the extended trailer, and reading about the critical reaction on Wikipedia, it looks like a great concept (aside from scientific issues) - until there's suddenly this other guy on the ship who wants to kill them all. The horrors of space are much less trite.
