There are days when you think you've seen every heart-wrenching moment life has to deliver, and then the Internet brings you more. You might, after just watching the first minute, think that that's enough but, oh no, you have to fast forward to the last 30 seconds or so to see the real tragedy in this (yes, safe for work) video: God Hates The World.

What the fuck is wrong with these people? I hate to ruin your Sunday (especially given the nature of the video), but we're talkin' goatse units of wrongness.

Directed by Alan Smithee. Thank goodness. At least the director's ashamed enough to avoid having his name on it.

I think that's deliberate on the part of the makers: by putting "Alan Smithee" on it, they enhance their claim that they're engaging in parody for the sake of parody (parody from the point of view of people who earnestly believe what they're singing) and deserve Campbell vs Acuff-Rose protection from prosecution or claims of copyright infringement.

Charming. Just charming.

The thing that struck me about it was the thing about it being too late; I thought these people believed that if you repent and change your ways all is forgiven?!

ouch
Ouch
OUCH

That hurt my brain.

What I would like to know, how could they say it's parody as parody?
It's more like Weird Al. And I believe he gets permission and pays, doesn't he?

It was so wrong, it took me awhile to remember the original song title.

I give it about 2.5 goatse. partly because it goes on and on and on. (and like you said, the last 30 secs.)
The concept itself is 1 goatse.

Phelps and his brood are the fringe of the fringe of the fringe. Just ignore them, they have no real influence. Even other right-wingers think they're crazy.

Point of order: The Phelps clan isn't, by any reasonable definition of the term, "right wing". Fred himself was was a Gore delegate to the 1988 Democratic National Convention, and has run for office as a Democrat several times. He's also an admirer of Fidel Castro, at least in regard to his treatment of gay people.

Heh. It's the Taliban version of "Mamma we all go to hell"!

Personally, this doesn't actually bother me, in no small part because I don't believe in all this god stuff. They're just a tiny cult that believes that everyone that doesn't belong to their family - er, cult, I mean - is going to hell. Not unlike practically every other branch of Christianity and Islam out there. They're just a tad fixated on one particular sin, but that's not at all uncommon either.
