It would seem that GoDaddy.com, my DNS registrar, was completely ill-prepared for last night. They are "experiencing technical difficulties." I have no idea when Pendorwright will come back into the DNS pool. This completely sucks.

That bites. Too bad that didn't spend fifteen minutes to realize the early day light savings time would cause them a small glitch. Still, I'm sure that things will be fixed shortly and you'll be back on line.

Hey, they've only had like two years to be prepared. Cut 'em some slack!

Of course, I had to go around and apply a Windoze patch for the DST change to every... single... computer where I work. That was a pain in the arse.

Our TiVo gets no software patch because DirecTV's response to this issue is "sign a two year service contract and get our D15 PVR for Free!" Problems with that are 1) it's $99 retail, fuck you, and 2) the reviews have been universally savage.

Also, we have an old VCR we've kept around and it does not seem to be dealing well at all. It even turned off its tuner until we unplugged it for five minutes and it went back in time to 1999.

Ten years or so ago, my ISP had to remind customers that the 4th Sunday and the last Sunday of a month were not always the same thing, and you had to explicitly set some software to change on the 5th Sunday, but only when there were 5 Sundays.

They finished by smugly admitting to have used a decent compiler that understood the difference, and people using their ancient MS-DOS program would have no trouble.

Very odd. We've got 18 domains with them and didn't have even a blip with any of them. Though I guess one unpatched server out of a pool could hit just that subset of domains.
