I feel like I spent most of yesterday in the seat of my car. First, I had to take the family grocery shopping, so we drove out to Tukwila to hit Costco. Then, after we got home and got all of the food squared away, I then had to drive Kouryou-chan down to Kent so she could go ice skating at her friends' birthday party, then back to the house to get dressed, showered, and packed for my evening.

I then put the whole family back in the car to go back and get Kouryou-chan. She hadn't skated very much: the shoes hurt her. That girl needs a sense of adventure. Yamaraashi-chan told us of her first skating ocassion saying, "I never fell down. I did sit down once with great difficulty, though."

We then drove up to Capitol Hill to attend [livejournal.com profile] fallenpegasus's fabulous 32nd birthday. Oddly, the subject of Clearwire and traffic shaping (shorter version: don't bother buying Clearwire if you do anything other than browse the web and read email) came up. "NNTP's not a bulk transfer protocol!" "It is for Elf."

I left my family at the Aloha house to drive all the way to the far side of Renton to pick up a one friend of mine for a date, and then we met at Cedars with another friend for an evening tete-a-tete. I got caught in the middle of listening to two Microsofties rave about the new wiki note facility in Vista called One Note or something like that and I had flashbacks to all the "I'm a Mac, I'm a PC" ads Omaha has shown me over the years. Is there anything one can do with One Note that can't be done more efficiently with a well-tuned emacswiki?

But I forgave them when we got to the club. Where we proceeded to wash and wax the young lady (yes, it was for her birthday, and I was half of the gift collection) and basically make her purr. I think we succeeded.

I think the club was short one dungeon master, because I swear I met the kinky equivalent of Ed Gruberman last night. The man positively radiated "I got the leathers. I want to start dominating girls right now!" He kept making comments to three women in the corner of one of the clean rooms, and one of them had to get up and tell him to shut up and get lost. Later I saw him desperately coming on to one woman who tried hard to keep a sneer on her face but had shock in her eyes, and I heard him say to her, "This is your first time here?" in that "fresh meat" voice.

I got home around 2:30 in the evening and went to bed, covered in the stickinesses of boy, girl, and lube factory. I am the Julia Childs of Reality!.

Today was much quieter. I spent most of it cleaning the kitchen, rendering down the last of the turkey carcass into stock (6 cups water, a frozen mass of bones, veggies... it's soup!). One of the nice things about having a deep freeze is stuff lasts. One of the disadvantages is that you forget stuff is in there. Omaha said "Make that dead bird into stock this weekend, it's taking up room." Since I was going to be in and out of the kitchen all day I wanted to make bread as well, but my yeasties were dead. Poor yeasties.

One of Yamaraashi-chan's friends came over. She had great fun with both girls, although she and Yamaraashi-chan are definitely into that "We're not little anymore" phase. They don't do it to be mean to Kouryou-chan, but it's obvious that Yamaraashi-chan is in a phase that's pulling her along faster than her little sister, and that frustrates Kouryou-chan a lot.

Yeast freezes well and will keep about as long as anything else in your freeezer. Bring it to room temperatur and proof it just to be safe
