I was informed this day that I have fallen to second in the rankings of "most prolific furry author" on the Internet, defeated by The Firestaff and Pyrosian Chronicles, a furry/werewolf sort of series. I haven't read much of it yet myself; apparently the furry story channels I pay attention to dried up long ago, because I used to be plugged in and familiar with these pieces as they came along. This comes to be as quite a surprise, but not an unpleasant one. Still, Galloway's series is much bigger than mine, 2.8 million words compared to my 1.6 million.

On the other hand, when I went to read one of his stories, he has annoying EULA popups. I would never do that to a reader. Fortunately, Lynx and Dillo completely "route around" such brain damage.

On volume of data. Kittiara's Trouble's Tales appears to be a challenger, but I know some of the original data files were HTML generated by MS Word, and so of horribly inflated size.

Bother: there's a mix of file formats in her VCL folder, but Book 3, Part 9, is about 102,000 words. (My local copy I converted with Lotus Word Pro, old but decently usable.) At least one file is bigger.

OK, I'll use the obvious line: size isn't everything.

2.8 million words...

Quality, not quantity.

Writing should be about the quality of the words, not the quantity of the words.

I my opinion, your writing is quality. Not having read the other author in question here, I will not comment on their work.

you didn't know about them, or I'd have recommended them to you.

Don't be put off by the pseudo-d&d feel of the world in the first part of the first book; the world _isn't_ generic 'extruded fantasy product' (to use a term I don't generally care for). I suspect that it started _out_ that way, before he really got it nailed down and worked out, but while there are some definite ideas that came from D&D, he's done some nifty things with the world, and he doesn't cop out by going 'here, have an enormous chunk of power. Now I'm taking it away from you so that it doesn't cause plot complications'; while the main character _does_ have problems with his power, it never felt contrived to me (indeed, the only time he truly loses his power felt perfectly logical to me).

I can also recommend his _Subjugation_; there were several points in it where I couldn't stop giggling.

As for the popups... yeah. Annoying. I don't believe he's the one who coded the original site, and the new one is simply a direct copy of it (apparently he lost access to the server it was on before), so it might not be his fault. Maybe.

I should complain about it, now that I think of it. It might actually do some good.

We saw a gal in Portland today sporting a furry tail. I wanted to tell her that I knew you.
