My take on the election...

I am not happy that the Democrats have taken the House, and will probably take the Senate. I am happy that we have a divided government where each party is deeply suspicious and resentful of the other. I would rather there be bloodletting and recrimination on Capitol Hill than that there be more laws passed. I just wish we had more than a simple two-party system where each party basically runs to corruption and then the other party takes over by portraying themselves as "what those guys should have been before they became corrupt." Lather, rinse, repeat.

Well as a Brit I've no clue how you cope with a 2 party system, given we have a 2.5 and lots of odds and sods party system.

The third party here has been pushing for proportional representation, trouble is we elect by constituency with one candidate representing a region. If they brought in proportional representation it would create the issue thatyou wouldn't have the right to pick which party represents your constituency necessarily. I can see why they want it though, as the third party they would get a bigger share in government plus it does have its appeals on first glance.
