Stage 2 Site Conversion underway!
Oct. 26th, 2006 02:32 pmThis morning I posted the updated Journal Entries engine to the Pendorwright site. It has a host of new features you've been asking for, including output in raw text, minimal HTML, and Palmdoc formats! Now that I know how it works, I'll be doing the same to the Aimee and Bloody Beth sites sometime in the next week.
Now the bad news: the cleanup has resulted in a few URL changes. The kind of thing that drives Google nuts, unfortunately, meaning it'll probably be a while before they get re-indexed properly. But the root URL is the same, and I've removed the splash page. It was way too old-school.
And, to make you all happier yet, I've scheduled a whole bunch of new stories to be posted over the next couple of months. But, to give you a head start, here are three (three!) new stories:
Connected Electricities is set on a cruddy little planet last seen in the Vengeance Angel stories, where Kaede & Eshi have landed, and has a slight seven-year-itch feel to it. The Forever Promise is set on the starship Conspiracy Theory, and is the "het" story of the batch. And finally A Place In History shows the afterlife of Duke Conta siss-talek and his existence in a transhuman (transllerkin, really) Hell.

Date: 2006-10-26 10:02 pm (UTC)I could go on about absolute pixel widths vs ems, etc. etc, but really I only care that it be able to fit in my browser. Some sort of more liquid layout would be much more usable for me and other users with narrow browsers.
For now, at least, I'll just use the minimal format pages.

Date: 2006-10-27 01:13 am (UTC)I wouldn't mind HTML so much if it was all like that minimal version.
Thank you!!

Date: 2006-10-27 01:18 am (UTC)Also, on the minimal one, I do kind of wish there were no stylesheet at all; you've done an awesome job of making a stylesheet that's "almost like" no stylesheet at all, but a complete absence of one would be even better.
All of the above quibbles aside, the minimal one *does* look great on my browser, and also in lynx. Therefore, I'm happy. :-)

Bwahahahaha.
I think you once described the JE as 'domestic pornography'?

Date: 2006-10-27 02:43 am (UTC)The minimal html version has an unbalanced in the header.
It would be nice if the minimal version could be created without the stylesheet reference.
Other then that, very nice. After a few simple "replace in file" operations and running the files through tidy I'm left with a very nice minimal html version that can be used to create an ebook.
