The congressbeast from my mother's district, Rep. Mark Foley (R-Fla.), announced today he is resigning from the House. The head of the house's Committee on Missing and Exploited Children could no longer stand the heat after transcripts of his attempts to seduce young boys online became publicly available.

Have a giggle. But then go back to the business of figuring out what to do next.

What bothers me the most is that I'm not shocked by this. At all.

I don't like being so cynical and jaded.

It's hard to giggle when one realizes that this has been going on since 2003 and the House leadership was aware of it for at least a year, to the extent that pages were *warned* about the guy in training class.
