Summery Things
Jul. 1st, 2006 08:55 pmI have a Home Depot 1500HSDS Powerwasher, the same brand as the Husky 1500HSDS. It's the second one I've owned. The first one went back after just ten hours of use, as the handle suddenly started leaking. Today, after about three hours of light use, the handle started leaking again. I went online and found a forum where apparently this was one of the most common complaints about the product: it's tendency to leak from the seam above the trigger. There are hundreds of grouses on that page.
We spent most of the day outdoors. I cleaned my segment of the flag road that leads up to my property, and Omaha and I put the finishing touches on the steps that lead up to the back route of the property, moving around a lot of stone and gravel in the process. We found an ant colony close to the house, the one that makes ocassional incursions in through the living room window; I'm trying a technique recommended to me by a local gardener, and poured boiling water over it. That should certainly discourage them.
Dinner was, um, interesting. Dinner was roasted potatoes in olive oil, garlic and rosemary, made in a bag made out of aluminum foil on top of the grill; corn on the cob, also prepared in aluminum foil on the grill with some ice and butter, which steamed and flavored the corn magnificently; and chicken breasts with coarse ground pepper and oregano. I love my new grill. It totally rocks. Of course, I had a bit of a surprise halfway through the cook when I turned the potatoes and turned the bag; I tore it, the olive oil leaked out and I had a grease fire on my hands. I turned the bag over to contain it, re-wrapped the leaky side in foil, and put it back and the crisis was over. The grease fire died down.
It was a nice day, very hot, very lovely. The neighborhood children came over and played in the sprinklers. I did manly things. Fans are working to keep the house cool. Omaha is beautiful in her bathing suit.

Date: 2006-07-03 04:07 am (UTC)We had carnivore's BBQ last night. Thick steaks with a mushroom, shrimp and blue cheese sauce to pour over. Along with the requisite cobbed corn and baked potatoes (baked in the microwave 'cause it was too hot for an oven).
I just got a new propane tank Friday and I'm really looking forward to grilling again.
Heh, should probably do a salady something tonight though.

Date: 2006-07-04 12:11 am (UTC)Shelley has all kinds of ideas for grilled veggies too. They used to do vegetarian bbq when they lived in CA. I should start posting the recipes that turn out so well as last night's did.
BTW Elfs - told Shelley about your corn idea and she said we'd have to try that next time. :)
