It's a token effort to obey Japan's censorship laws. Everyone knows its ineffectual, and Japan hasn't done anything in recent years to up its effectiveness.
From what I understand, Japan has actually given up most of its censorship laws, at least for drawn materials. I don't know if they're still actually on the books or not, but it is known not to be enforced. However, this form of pro-forma censorship has become something of an industry standard.
There is actually a fair amount of rather good Mexican and South American prog. Cast is one of the best of the many, many bands in deep, unrequited love with Genesis and Marillion (I quite like Angels and Demons). I got to see them at ProgDay 2003, and they put on a very good show. They also host the annual prog festival BajaProg in MexiCali, Mexico. I've never been myself, but it's four days of bands and drinking around swimming pools, and I'm told that it's a great deal of fun if you are into that sort of thing.
Absolutely don't wish to intrude, but just kind of concerned that it's been almost a month since Elf posted in his weblog, just wondering if everyone's well. Life gets busy, just hoping there's no negative reason..
