Wow. It's long after the official start of the business day and yet, I'm the only developer in the office. I even checked the schedule and according to the company calendar today is not a holiday (although the buses are on a holiday schedule today; wish I'd known that when I stepped out into the rain this morning). I wonder if everyone else took the week off?

("Gaaaaaaaaahhhhhh", when written in katakana, is the manga onomatopoeia for an empty cubical farm, the only soundthe fans on all the computers.)

Me too.

I ride the Orange-line (San Diego Trolley) to work so I don't have to pay for parking downtown, and the first sign that it was going to be a slow day was when I pulled into the park-n-ride and only saw 3 other vehicles...

I've been in the office since 8:15 this morning... and now it's 9:45 and still no one else has shown up.

But... there is work to do, and I'm doing it (I'm transcoding several video clips into .flv format on two other machines as I type this...) ;)

So is the fact they have a word for it a reference to the sound the boss makes when they discover the cubicle farm is empty, or the emotional or intellectual content of the average remaining workers at such a farm? :)
