I was reading a doujinshi[?] of the anime Please, Teacher, which is a little absurd in and of itself, but what really amused me was the cover blurb, which is as pure an example of Engrish as I can imagine:
It is important thought that if an accident for him and her occurs at the same time, it becomes necessity and therefore is made. Then, it proceeds to the future. Without doing not stop and flustering, slowly.
The word of the day:Drachenfutter (German): A peace offering made by a guilty husband to an angry wife. Literally, "Dragon fodder."

And, speaking of anime, today's disturbing Worth 1000 entry is "What would celebrities look like if people really did have anime eyes?"

In other news, Bill O'Reilly is once again frakking ignorant. Is he still complaining that the tendency of bloggers to fact-check him to Hell and back is "an unacceptable abuse of free speech"?

I was listening to entirely too much tooth-grinding conspiracy theorizing about gasoline prices at Foolscap too. It's reaching the point where going out into largest social groups is bad for my blood pressure. I want to be everywhere at once, fact checking every ignorant conversation. But it would be about as welcome as a diaper in a swimming pool, and about as effective.

I guess I was just boggled by the "Gnomes of Zurich" imagery.

That kind of idiotic imagery is how you can always tell someone who's never run a business or been close to the running of one, in any way other than "customer" or "low level employee".

There actually used to be someone who told the gas stations what to charge, back in the days of the Nixonian price controls. Shudder...

I'm sure that what Bill heard about was the one of those companies like Avram of PHC, which maps out whole cities on a block-by-block basis, runs analyses, and then advices the gas companies of what the franchise at such-and-such address could charge and still pull in customers. The gas companies do forward that information to their franchisees, but the fact is that information is not collusive nor dictated.

Bill simply ran with the notion of a "gasoline pricing consultancy" and appealed to his mouthbreathing audience.
