Right now, there's only one anime for the fall season that I'm eagerly looking forward to: Cluster Edge, a steampunk with flight, Victoriana costumes series featuring an all-male cast-- all good things in my book.

There's apparently a sequel to Mai HiME, My OtoME, but it looks awful. The costumes are terrible and Mikoto has been transformed into an actual cat. What's up with that? I might bother, but I am not holding out hope for this one.

One other possibility: Another Love Song, which has some nifty art and bizarre science themes.

But other than Cluster Edge, the others aren't anything I'm going to go out of my way to acquire.

I think the new season always looks a little weak from afar -- usually one or two series sneak up and turn out to be better than you were expecting -- or wholly unexpected in the first place. I'm not sure yet what I'll be watching, but I have some faith that something will come up. In the mean time, it's more Zettai Shonen (which with the new setting is almost a new series), and that'll certainly do me for now.

So far I have heard of no sequel for this, Mai-Otome has a totaly different plot acording to ANIDB.net. I agree that Cluster Edge looks interesting.

If you go to the original Mai HiME (http://www.sunrise-inc.co.jp/my-hime/web/index.html) website, you'll see both Mai Takumi, the heroine of the first series, and Arika, the heroine of the second season, standing side by side with their arms outstretched towards the viewer with two fingers up. Arika actually appears in episode 26 of Mai HiME, in the last couple of frames as Mai and Natsuki are walking off to the left. There are links from the first website to the second, and vice versa, and on the first the news on the right hand bar disusses the second series quite enthusasitcally.

Returning characters include: Natsuki, Mashiro, Shizuru, Akane, and Nagi.

Sure sounds like a sequel to me.

Something else to watch
