Well, we had Yamaarashi-chan over, but only for 24 hours this weekend as her mother wanted her for a May Day celebration on Sunday and Omaha and I were planning on going out to a birthday celebration for a friend of mine and myself, although my birthday isn't until next week. We managed to find an overnight for Kouryou-chan with a friend, so our plans were set.
For breakfast I tried a new recipe: French toast made with English crumpets. They came out kinda gooey, almost pudding-like, and the kids made them vanish. Yamaarashi-chan said they were best things she'd ever eaten. Huzzah, much success!
Omaha took the girls down to the laundromat to clean the few items we had that were too big for our household washer while I cleaned house and then sat around, blissfully enjoying the silence. Around 2:30, Omaha called and said that Yamaarashi-chan's tummy was hurting her, so I brought both kids back home. Yamaarashi-chan curled up on the couch, clutching her belly. She didn't have a fever, so we called the insurance nurse who said that if her tummy ache didn't go away in two hours we were to take her to the ER. Instead, she fell asleep.
That was fine, if it meant she slept off whatever was bugging her. I took Kouryou-chan over to her friend's house. I had wanted to spend some time with Yamaarashi-chan, but she slept through the afternoon, and when she awoke she said the hurt had gone away. I took her back to her mother's house, and the Omaha and I went out to The Garage, a restaurant and pool hall, to meet with some friends and have absolutely wonderful cheesecake.
Later, some of us wound up at the 'Spot. I don't know what quite happened, but about halfway through the evening a deep funk settled on my shoulders and I kept drifting in and out of an intense desire to sleep. Well, it was midnight. I kinda wanted to play with some of the others but just couldn't work up the energy. Ah, well. Some other time, I hope.
