Well, the weekend was untraumatic. After a pancake breakfast that I completely nailed (I brought the eggs, milk, and melted butter up to room temperature and fluffed the egg whites before mixing) Omaha spent Saturday talking with Democrats. I went to the mall to buy Kouryou-chan some sneakers. We found a cute pair she liked with Dora The Explorer on them, and got them for half-off. A steal! With the money we saved I bought pretzels and lemonade. We stopped by the German deli and picked up some heavily caffeinated chocolate for those days when we're just dragging, and then I ran down to the rock store and picked up some finishing stones, about 400 pounds worth, for the garden. Still not enough, darn it, and moving them was a pain in the neck. I weeded some, and Kouryou-chan helped for a moment but she wanted to play so we tossed the softballs around with nerfbats. Kouryou-chan and I had egg salad sandwiches for lunch.

Omaha called and asked to be picked up. A friend of mine from California had come up to spend the week and WinHec, and we all went out to dinner at Cedar's, a lovely restaurant that is always too crowded, and then we got home just in time to have Kouryou-chan asleep in her carseat. Good, it made bedtime easy, and I was feeling very tired. I had done my exercises that morning to failure, and now I could feel that failure in every dollop of my anatomy.

Sunday was more of the same. I woke early and watched three episodes of Mai HiME, and then Omaha and Kouryou-chan and I had cereal for breakfast. We gardened most of the day. I felt better Sunday, but was still exhausted by the time six had rolled around. I must have dug up hundreds of weeds, and there's hundreds to go. I did have a bit of inspiration, though: there's a quarry recycling holding center about a quarter-mile from my house and they have spillover littering some of the holding pens, and I wondered if they'd let me have the spillover stone for drainage behind the retaining wall. I'll have to ask the manager on Monday.

We went out to eat (again, but this time we were paying) with some poly friends of ours who, Omaha and I feel, have done poly as well as humanly possible and we wanted their advice on a couple of things. I think we got it, too. It's nice having role models.

But the restaurant was only so-so. Another post.
