Apr. 5th, 2005 08:32 amAs if the Congressslime from Texas, Tom Delay (R-TX), wasn't bad enough, the junior senator from his state, Senator John Cornyn (R-TX) had the unmitigated gall to suggest that the recent murders of a judge or her family was blowback from judicial tyranny:
Expect a "My comments were taken out of context" statement forthwith. Great Caesar's ghost, this has to be some of the most outrageous and incendiary vocabulary I've seen coming out of our supposed leaders (not to mention self-described "men of God") in the past fifty years.
There'll be a lot of blogging about this today. I'm adding my voice. Democracies are like that.
I don't know if there is a cause-and-effect connection, but we have seen some recent episodes of courthouse violence in this country… And I wonder whether there may be some connection between the perception in some quarters, on some occasions, where judges are making political decisions yet are unaccountable to the public, that it builds up and builds up and builds up to the point where some people engage in, engage in violence. Certainly without any justification, but a concern that I have.

Now I ask you this, Elf: has either of the girls pulled the run-and-ask-Daddy-when-Mommy-said-"No" tactic? Same question for all you othe parents. Think about when your kid has done that.
Does that behavior seem at all familiar to anyone watching how people interact with our court system?
