So, what did I do this weekend?

fallenpegasus wandered over for Fish Friday, which is rapidly becoming the tradition. We had soup in bread bowls, which was delicious, and then sat around pretending to be alive. I finally shuffled the girls off to bed, and Omaha went with them because she was just exhausted. Pegasus and I watched the first episode of Battlestar Galactica, now that I've figured out the magical incantation that lets me render them onto DVD. It seems that the renderer breaks if it doesn't have a constant border, so letterboxing still requires some pull-in on the sides.
Saturday, we did housework almost all day until FallenPegasus showed up, miraculously, to fill in since out two babysitter plans had fallen through. He had volunteered to fill in so that Omaha and I could go out withjenkitty and technoshaman. We hit Cedar's restaurant and then lounged at Tubs. It was pretty nice, and I'm very grateful to them for taking us away and giving us adult time.
Sunday, Omaha and I woke up and made waffles for breakfast. The girls were good, they woke up a little bleary but after we got some food into them they were fine. The waffles come out excellently.
After breakfast, I made dinner. I put chicken, barley, vegetables, a chopped onion, some chicken, and cubed butternut squash into the crockpot and just left it. Then, we did some more housework. I mopped the kitchen and dining nook floors, because they really needed it, and I finished burning off the definitely-not-for-kids Elfen Lied to DVD.
Lunch time rolled around. We made sandwiches-- egg salad for the girls and Omaha, but I wanted a bacon-lettuce-tomato thing, heavy on everything, and then we all went to the nearby park. Not the little one up the street, but the more popular one about a mile away. There were a lot of kids on the playset, with another older group on the swings, two games of basketball, and two groups of college-age kids, one playing football, the other volleyball.
We had brought the girls' bicycles, and after pumping up the tires and tuning the brakes Omaha and I had them lap the park. We prefer this park for bicycle practice because it's mostly flat and level, unlike the one closer to the house. Yamaarashi-chan did a lot better than Kouryou-chan this time around, but I suspect that by the time summer rolls around both of them will be competent at bicycling. At one point, Yamaarashi-chan protested that "not everyone learns how to ride a bike!" but I pointed out that if she did know how, she'd be able to ride with the rest of us.
After a couple of laps that had the adults very tired, we let them go back to running about. It was a pretty good day, all in all, and we stayed until the sun went down.

You mean chicken stock, for the second chicken? How much, enough to cover? and does it need spicing later, or does the onion and the stock do the trick? Sounds like something da Kitty and I might take a swing at...
And here's to less stress and more energy for everyone... gods know we all need it.
