So, I woke up this morning to discover that my desktop was deader 'n a friggerzoid. It looked like the power supply had given up the ghost. But I went down to Fry's and bought a replacement, stuck it in, and it came back up without a hitch. And now it has a much more reliable power supply; a 480Kw instead of the old 350Kw that used to be there (It was actually the smallest thing I could find that would fit in my box!) and when I turned it on, for once the BIOS did not complain that the power was out of spec.
Let's hope this lasts at least a year or two. The last one barely survived a year.

These folks are apparently in the UK and taking cash for both original and fandom stories. At least seven of the many authors are folks I know and none of them gave permission to this group to use their work.
Goodluck with the hardware troubles.
