Cthulu wants to know: I won't spoil it for you.

"Not many people know this, but, done correctly, scrapbooking is a contact sport." Opening lines for Mormon fiction.

Things heard during Objectivist Sex. Just in time for Ayn Rand's 100th birthday.

I wonder if Merlin should be annoyed: Amazon.com has secretly started a new venture: 43 Things. Their FAQ on "why 43" is so blatantly dodging the question I don't know how to describe it as anything other than a blatant rip-off. It's not a secret that 43 Things runs the place, but it was a secret that "Robot Co-Op," the holding company that owns 43Things, is a front for some very monied Amazonians.

I'd be annoyed, myself.

Don't make me laugh so hard this early in the day! Also, it's work safe.

Fact check

Just because it was founded by an ex-Amazonian (or some ex-Amazonians) and has a recent investment by Amazon does not mean it is owned or controlled by Amazon.

Amazon invests in any number of things in my experience, but they don't own them or even control them.

43 Things' CEO has been quite evasive about whether or not he's funded by Amazon directly. I find that curious.

Fact Check 2

What makes you think that 43 Things picked that name after 43 folders? Did you bother to check which one was registered first?

Huh. That is interesting; according to the registrar, 43things was registered before 43Folders. I find it curious that they should both hit upon such a curiously popular prime number.

"43Folders" is older than the website; the phrase comes from David Allen's Getting Things Done (31 days + 12 months filing system). I don't believe the 43Folders FAQ that they just picked the number out of their butts like that.

It's probably part of the larger conspiracy. Perhaps they have time machines.

Why so much ill will toward 43 Things? You've cast all sorts of aspersions here without any support or evidence (that its an amazon ploy rather than a genuine start up that secured amazon funding; that it somehow stole Merlin's name before he had even thought of it). Have you taken a look at the site? If you just swallow what gets spoon-fed to you by the press - you just end up parroting other stupid stuff you read. Thanks for clogging up the internet with innuendo.

You don't believe the FAQ . . . You can apparently pull stuff out of your butt left and right about this company you seem to know nothing about, but you don't imagine anyone there could make up the name for their own website - or if they do they are somehow lying. Maybe they should have checked with you to see if you agreed the name they picked met with your approval, since they seemed to have screwed that one up.
