elfsSo, I got my Usenet back. My ISP has announced that they have a "new newsfeed" with "over 100,000 newsgroups," including a huge slew of binary groups.
That's all well and good, but the speed of the new feed is atrocious. We're talking dog slow. I used to get a solid, reliable 30 kilobytes/second transfer rate-- now I'm lucky to get 7. It's no use suddenly having the entire gamut of alt.binaries.* newsgroups if you can use them efficiently. Grr...
