A few short brains...

A rape victim, brutally raped, savaged. The girl was a virgin. She was religious. She planned on saving her virginity until she was married. She was brutalized and raped, sodomized as bad as you can possibly make it, and is impregnated. I mean, that girl could be so messed up, physically and psychologically, that carrying that child could very well threaten her life.I bet he had to change his shorts after that.
All this points out is that the right-wing fantasy of the "defiled virgin" is alive and well, and only whores get pregnant from their rapist.
Brad DeLong reminds us of one Republican fantasy:
You know, modern American Republicans' self-image is of a rugged individualist, upwardly-mobile, eager to take risks and strike out for new frontiers, a pioneer willing to move thousands of miles and become a stranger in a strange land in search of opportunity--and somebody who does not care about and is not obedient to picky bureaucratic rules and regulations. However, he also reminds me of another Republican fantasy:
In short, their self-image is that he is an illegal immigrant from Oaxaca.
The family man, terrified of the vicious downward spiral of mobility inherent in the random tragedy of life like automobile accidents, tornadoes, and cancer, disciplined into not vaulting over the big top by the lack of a safety net, clinging to working-class respectibility because they have no choice-- someone's whose choices are circumbscribed by his sustainance, who is forced into obedience by those who control his access to employment.
The Daily Finance runs the numbers on Ryan's plan and discovers that the safety net would be destroyed, and we'd all have to pay an average of $2,160 more under the Ryan/Romney plan.
