Although it's not anywhere near Mother's day, I would like to thank my mothers: my biomother, whover she was, for giving me up, and my Mom, for having the courage to adopt and raise me, not knowing what the heck she was getting herself into.

I say this because Pat Robertson (yes, he's still alive, ornery ol' coot) today advised people that they shouldn't adopt kids because they "might be weird." He especially advised against adopting kids from other countries because it's unfair to make your relatives "take on the United Nations."

So, you can't abort, can't contracept, and can't adopt. Pat Robertson's world looks more like Sharia law every day, doesn't it?

I imagine he and his Lord will have a VERY interesting talk one day.

Can we at least entertain the notion that his Lord is very happy with what he's doing? And that MLKjr's Lord was very happy with what he did?

I'm perfectly willing to accept the notion that the God of the 400 Club is not the same God as the God of the Lutherans (or RCC, or Anglicans, or whomever). Even if both groups think they are the same. I mean, if you are taught there is only one God, you aren't likely to verify the credentials of the god that starts talking to you, are you?

You're also not likely to verify the credentials of the god you end up in front of after you're dead. ;)

I refuse to base my choice of deity on hearsay, if any one of them wants me as a follower, they'd better get a message to me in person.

Heaven knows that kids bred inside The Family won't ever grow up weird. That just doesn't happen in Red States, right? I mean, what kind of weird could possibly come out of the DNA melange that makes up your average megachurch?

asshats is a new tag for you. It'll be interesting to see what else becomes labelled with it :)

That sounds like a particularly alarming sort of determinism.
