[Review] Mai HiME, Episode 3
Nov. 11th, 2004 12:58 pmI don't understand why reaction to this show is so vehemently either for it or against it. It seems like one of those shows where you either hate it or love it, and I'm not quite in either camp. It's a fanservice show-- girls in short skirts weilding big swords and doing technomagic stuff. I like that sort of stuff, but I'm not absolutely gaga over it like some of the fans seem to be. I think the art has gotten better; the first episode was uneven, but the color schemes and artwork improved greatly in the past couple of shows and it's really quite fun. Mikoto and Mai look like a cute couple.
This is definitely a "The sort of thing you'll like, if you like this sort of thing" series. I like the way Mai dotes on and takes care of her brother, Takumi. I think Natsuki and her robot wolf with the over-the-shoulder cannons are way cool. And the feral wolf-girl weilds a wicked mean sword.
