Why? Other religious figures have run for president before. As a matter of fact, at least one of them was a democrat (Al Sharpton).

Not to mention Jesse Jackson.

Its odd then, that whenever Bush credits his belief system for making decisions, many on the left freak out as if the country was suddenly being controlled by the Landover Baptists (http://www.landoverbaptist.org/). [got the link wrong the first time... my bad]

While few even bat an eye when Al Sharpton or Jessie Jackson give speeches riddled with vague or even blatant scriptural references at political rallies. But then, I doubt many people on either side consider Sharpton or Jackson to be realistic candidates..... ever.

I believed them to be more "real" of candidates than bush. I dont understand why the man is still in office, but I digress. The reason us "lefties" dont shoot down sharpton/jackson and other religious candidates is because they are not going to wage a personal holy war with our country as the army.

It saddens me that people are so afraid of a black president comments like "I doubt many people on either side consider sharpton or jackson to be realistic candidates.... ever." are probably quite on the nose with the publics opinion. Nothing against you whatsoever tehrasha, just referring to the general public.
