The Republican are meeting in New York, and the first group to cause a stir are, apparently, the Iowa caucus. They are all wearing buttons that read "God's Official Party" or "God's Own Party".
Quick, if you translate "God's Own Party" into Arabic, what would the name of the party be?
I don't, no. I googled for "God's Own Party" and found a place selling them as bumper stickers, though, along with a button that reads "This is your brain [Elephant Logo], This is your brain on drugs [Donkey Logo], Any Questions?"
It would be ironic only if there wasn't virtually a guarantee that anyone who claims to be allied with God is misbehaving. Alliances with god, much like patriotism, are the last refuges of scoundrels who SHOULD know better and are anything but patriotic or righteous. Hypocrites.
And the Republicans are proudly proclaiming both. I wish Bush would STFU about how god wanted us to be in Iraq to preserve and spread American values. I knew there would be trouble as soon as I heard speeches leading up to the invasion in which he said such things, that spoke volumes to the end that there was no justification whatsoever for us to be interfering in any way in Iraq.

Or maybe there's a (perhaps closet?) democrat out there that's behind selling these pins and stickers. Wouldn't that be a hoot?
