Great. Just freaking great.

Hot on the heels of [livejournal.com profile] fallenpegasus's crisis last week, I went down stairs and found.. you guessed it...

My hot water heater's leaking. Not badly yet. But...

We've had a burst sink fitting at 4:30 am with the shutoff valve so corroded that it wouldn't move without a hefty application of the maintenance guy's wrench (apartment), a leaking water heater (house), a basement wall insufficiently impervious to accumulated groundwater (house), and a backed-up sewer line (also house).

Given my choice of annoying plumbing happenings, I'll take the leaking water heater. But it still sucks.

If you can afford it, I'd recommend one of the on-demand type. They're nifty, and much more fuel-efficient.

Heh. Two summers ago Omaha and replaced our entire water line. Since we live on a flag property, this involved digging up our neighbor's yards and doing 210 feet of copper line. Yeah, the water heater's nothing compared to that. Still, it's money I would rather have spent elsewhere.xk

That is surprisingly ineffective at fixing a water tank leak.

That depends on your definition of "fix". It would certainly remove the minor leak from the list of things that need to be dealt with. :-)
